Tablet PCs

Unlike most computers, Tablet PCs offer three modes of input:

  1. Keyboard (like every computer)
  2. Stylus -- writing on the Screen
  3. Voice -- recordings

The second mode -- entering information with the stylus is what makes a Tablet PC most interesting.

Writing on the Tablet

The stylus is powered by a magnetic tip stuck into the writing end of the pen. Most pens have three active parts.

  1. The tip. When the tip is on or near the screen it begins to control the cursor. Tapping the pen is equivalent to clicking the mouse.
  2. The "eraser" end, which works as you'd expect in many situations.
  3. A button along the side that when pressed changes a tap from a click to an off-click.
